The National Engineering Research Center for Educational Big Data Application Technology (hereinafter referred to as the National Engineering Research Center) was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in 2017. It is a national scientific research platform for the education industry, specializing in educational big data research and application innovation. It will be included in the new series of National Engineering Research Center in 2021, and is an important part of the national strategic scientific and technological strength

The National Engineering Research Center focuses on the needs of the national education digital transformation strategy, faces the forefront of intelligent education science, focuses on the needs of the education industry and industrial development, and forms six research directions: education big data standard system, education context awareness and learning tracking, education data convergence and fusion sharing, comprehensive modeling and learning analysis, education intelligent management and decision-making, education intelligent service and visualization

The National Engineering Research Center now has 9 master and doctoral majors, covering the fields of pedagogy, educational technology, computer science and technology, software engineering, artificial intelligence, etc. It has awarded degrees in pedagogy, science, engineering, etc. It has cultivated nearly 1000 master and doctoral graduates, established a talent training system integrating science and education, industry and education, won the national top prize for teaching achievements, and strongly supported the Central China Normal University's selection of pedagogy into the national first-class discipline construction

The National Engineering Research Center attaches great importance to the construction of talent team and vigorously promotes the deep integration of talent chain and innovation chain. A research and engineering technology team with a scale of over 300 people has formed a talent echelon consisting of strategic scientists, leading talents, and young teachers with a reasonable age structure and strong innovation ability. Among them, 5 people have been selected for the national talent plan and 15 people have been selected for the provincial and ministerial talent plan. We have undertaken multiple major national scientific and technological tasks, published over 800 high-level papers, held more than 200 authorized patents (including 9 international patents), formulated 18 national (international) standards, published over 100 monographs, and received more than 20 provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological awards. In 2021, we were awarded the title of the 6th National Advanced Collective of Professional and Technical Talents

The main body of the National Engineering Research Center is built in the comprehensive building of South Lake Campus of Central China Normal University. It has 24000 square meters of research and engineering practice office space, more than 4000 sets of instruments and equipment. It has built a number of data collection scenarios, such as the innovative landmark building of the smart classroom in the South Lake complex building, the Wuhan education big data system, and built a first-class data support platform, AI capability service platform, technology research and development platform, and product test application platform in this field. It has built a complete system of technological innovation and industrial development, formed an educational innovation practice system serving the national and local smart education demonstration areas, and built an internationally leading independent innovation platform for education big data
