Educational Technology (078401) – Master of Science
Launched in 1986, this program focuses on the latest developments in digital education, educational technology, and new media. It is supported by top-level research centers—the National Engineering Research Center for Digital Learning and the Educational Information Technology Collaborative Innovation Center—as well as advanced labs, computer workstations, and professional software. The curriculum brings together knowledge from education, computer science, and information management.
Digital Education
Looks at the core theories behind educational technology. Topics include how to use IT in subject teaching, how to develop modern curricula, how learning works, how to design instructional systems, and how to manage and make decisions using ICT in education.
Educational Information Technology
Covers how to design, develop, use, manage, and evaluate digital tools and software for education. Key areas include learning analytics, educational data mining, intelligent tutoring systems, and web design for learning.
New Media & Education
Explores how to use new media technologies to support teaching. Topics include educational games (edutainment), animation, human–computer interaction, social media in learning, and creating virtual learning environments and lab simulations.
