Science and Technology Innovation 2030 Major Project on New Generation AI — Learner Cognition and Affective Computing for Smart Education

This project addresses important challenges in understanding how learners think and feel, such as unclear underlying processes, difficulties in representing knowledge, and limited ability to apply strategies across different situations. It focuses on studying how cognition, emotion, and learning outcomes interact within a three-dimensional learning environment that includes physical, social, and informational elements. The goal is to develop a complete theoretical framework and technical system that use intelligent computing to adaptively support learners, promoting “informed and collaborative nurturing” in smart education.

Through this research, the project aims to achieve major breakthroughs and become a global leader in learner cognition and affective computing. It also seeks to advance AI innovation in areas like brain-inspired and embodied intelligence, creating a two-way relationship where artificial intelligence and education enhance each other. By driving key advances in theory and technology, the project will foster new smart education applications, improve the educational ecosystem, and bring significant social and economic benefits.
