The National Engineering Research Center for E-Learning (NERCEL), established at Central China Normal University, is a specialized R&D institution focused on educational informatization and the transformation of scientific research into practical applications. It was approved as a provincial engineering research center by the Hubei Provincial Development and Reform Commission in 2004, designated as an engineering research center by the Ministry of Education in 2006, and incorporated into the national engineering research center development program by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2009. As the only national-level engineering research center in China dedicated to educational informatization, NERCEL serves as a major hub for technology development, product deployment, and industry demonstration—representing the forefront of research and engineering practice in the field.
