On the morning of May 16th, Professor Yang Xianmin, Dean and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Smart Education at Jiangsu Normal University, was invited to give a lecture at the Intelligent Education Lecture Hall of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Education, with the theme of "Accompanying Collection and Application Practice of Educational Research Data". This report will be held in Conference Room 7001 of Nanhu Comprehensive Building, presided over by Professor Zuo Mingzhang, Vice Dean of the School of Education Information Technology of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Education.
Firstly, Professor Yang Xianmin introduced the accompanying collection of educational research data from the perspective of the value and management of data elements in the digital transformation of education. Next, the technical system of education big data collection, commonly used and cutting-edge education big data collection technologies were introduced. It was pointed out that companion data collection is a data acquisition method that achieves various types of data automation and continuous collection through technical means without interference, and the research advantages of this method were analyzed. Then, the analysis methods of educational research data were explained in detail from two aspects: the general analysis framework of educational research data and commonly used analysis tools. Subsequently, based on my own practical research, I focused on analyzing four evidence-based research cases: "Understanding user behavior patterns in open knowledge communities," "Quality evaluation of online open courses based on learning process data," "ChatGPT+education public cognition and attitude analysis based on open communities," and "Interactive analysis of smart classrooms in primary and secondary schools based on spatial perspectives. Finally, Professor Yang Xianmin shared his team's recent research topics and views on hot topics such as the application of ChatGPT generative artificial intelligence in different educational scenarios.
After the lecture, the faculty and students of the department had a friendly interactive exchange with Professor Yang Xianmin on the application of ChatGPT in educational settings, the cultivation of data literacy for primary and secondary school teachers, and methods for measuring student cognition. The attending teachers and students expressed that through this activity, they have gained a deeper understanding and experience of the methods of collecting and analyzing educational research data, as well as the research paradigm based on data evidence, and have gained a lot.
